Laser Therapy
Stonefield has had laser therapy for over 10 years. Many practices still do not have this incredible healing treatment modality. Light energy is very healing and treats many conditions. A few of these conditions include osteoarthritis, wound healing, ear disease, muscle trauma, sprains and even torn anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) or any other soft tissue trauma. Laser treatments alleviate pain by increasing endorphins in the brain. This helps reduce the amount of pain medication we give to our pets.
Laser Surgery
Here at Stonefield, we use a surgical laser instead of a conventional scalpel. Every practice should have laser surgery technology. Just like in human medicine, laser surgery for pets involves using concentrated light sources as a surgical tool.
With laser surgery, there tends to be less tissue trauma, less bleeding, faster healing and often minimal swelling after the procedure. In addition, surgical time and post-surgical pain may be reduced. The laser technology prevents bleeding and blood loss which is absolutely critical, especially in the tiny pets Dr. Vaughn performs surgery on. Three to four drops of blood can make the difference in life or death in a parakeet.
